Hello to all,

we have problem to send emails to Aol , it seems to be because our emails are hosted by an isp and not going directly to our exchange server (we use a pop3 connector).

The big problem is my boss don't want to use the internal email and has an Aol account. so everytime we send him and email it is rejected and i spend my day in his office
the only solution i found was to create a contact that forward the mail on our other domain in Canada that forward to his aol account. But he is not satisfied with that because he don't like the adress   .

so i tought to build a mailrelay + dmz to get the mails directly, but it isnt seems to be the easyest way to solve the problem.

what do you think ?

Thank you,

Eric

depends on your circumstances.

I had the same problem, you can contact AOL they were extremely helpful in diagnosing problems but there systems have strict rules on where it accepts mail from.

if your network has a fixed i.p address you are in luck, its worth checking block lists and list of dydnamic ranges for you i.p just incase, the main cause is that aol does reverse DNS checks on inbound traffic you need to have reverse DNS setup on your i.p address to send to aol, call your ISP to set this up for you. just set it like hosta.mydomain.com.

Also you can setup another SMTP connector routing through your ISP's mail server for aol.com domain. mine forwarded all aol e-mails through smtp.ntlworld.com untill i solved the problem with direct sending with help from aol support.

the route cause of my problem was an ID 10 T user, that was on a distribution list he didn't like so clicked this is spam, which in turn blocked all mail from the main addresses at work to his aol account.

excuse the typos and spelling new year hangover
