I want an app that resides on a standalone server to use my exchange server to send notifications etc. The app server isn't on the domain and can't be, there are three types of authentication on the app (JSCAPE ftp server): plain text, ssl, start-tls. When i try using any of them I get error messges back saying unrecogised authentication OR when i leave the login details blank I get Client was not autheniticated.
Looking at this post would seem to fix the solution so i guess my question is isn't this a real security risk?

How can i allow just the one server to relay through my exchange server
Any help on this would be great...am finding exchange 2007 a real drag!
