hi all,
pl. tell me as i am very new e2k what are role of the transaction logfiles and the EDB/STM databases.

whether we have required it at time of backup.
also pl. explain me what is online /offline backup in e2k and how it to complete.

The log files you see in the mdbdata directory are used to restore a previous nights database backups to the point of failure, in the event that the server fails. When you back up the store the log files are purged and are of no use anymore assuming the backup was valid.

As for online/offline. Backups taken with an Exchange aware application (like ntbackup on the exchange server) can "see" the Exchange server and back it up as an etheral entity. when you stop the Exchange services and treat the edb/stm files as just another file on the server then that's an offline backup.
