Got an urgent message from a user yesterday; aparently he's been able to send to this client for the longest time but now it gave him an NDR with a bogus helo error:

reference: http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800385132/mpage_1/key_bogus%2chelo/tm.htm#1800408265

the NDR reports the bogus helo ipaddressofpossibleserveritself and then a url to unblock my ip. I've tried the url but the admin has replied back that there's something wrong with my server or we've got some sort of virus. But all my systems seem to be fine and no viruses, and server is just fine. I used a backup email server "Ability Mail Server" to reply back to him and did not receive an NDR. Is there something I need to check in ESM?

could it be because i'm using SPF? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Permitted_From

If so, I had it implemented for the longest time. Why now?

There almost seems like there could be an underlying DNS issue somewhere in the line. Verify all that first.
Try a diagnostic telnet session from your mail server to the receiving mail server. See this article
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/SMTPDIAGdiagnose-Exchange-2003-SMTP-DNS.html
and this one

I figured it out, they just down right black listed us on a certain part of their block, weird. Thanks though!
