For a long time I have had a problem receiving emails from certain domains.
The latest problem has the following data.

Bounceback:
For <bwillborn@stllitho.com>, Site (stllitho.com/12.28.46.211) said: 550 requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable.

The mailbox is valid.

SMTP Log:
time c-ip cs-username s-sitename s-port cs-method cs-uri-query sc-status sc-win32-status sc-bytes cs-bytes time-taken cs-version

Another point is that the domains I am currently having the problem with are all hosted at the gwa2.webcontrolcenter.com.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

A 550 response can also mean it was rejected for policy reasons.  Since you say all the problem domains are hosted at the same place, is it possible that you are blocking via the IP address or by some other policy?

To my knowledge there are not any policies enforced.
Under Global Settings-Message Delivery there isn't any limits on size. There is a 100 recipient limit and under filter nothing is checked or under senders.
The SMTP settings doesn't have the filtered check box checked either.
There are no policies listed under the server properties.
Under SMTP there is a 20 message per connection limit and a 500 recipients per message limit. There is a 30 hop maximum and under Delivery-Advanced I do reverse DNS lookup.
Under Routing Groups I have Enabled to send HELO instead of EHLO and the address space has an SMTP entry with an *.

If there is somewhere else I should look please let me know.

Thanks for your response.

Brad

I can not ping the mail servers ip address 63.134.207.9????
What could that mean? besides the obvious that I can't reach the server. :)

I noticed that the system that fields your inbound traffic is not your Exchange server.  I'd first look there for any policies that could be blocking the messages.

Not being able to ping really doesn't mean much.  Ping is part of a separate communication protocol (ICMP) and can be allowed/blocked independently of other traffic (SMTP in this case).

Dean,
Did you get my last reply to your test email?
I looked at the post and the last thing you mentioned was
"I noticed that the system that fields your inbound traffic is not your Exchange server. I'd first look there for any policies that could be blocking the messages."
The emails are getting to the exchange server or at least I thought that the firewall was out of the question since it shows up in the SMTP log of the exchange server.
To add to the list I can't receive emails from plaxo.com. The same entries show up in the SMTP log.
I am looking at the SMTP filter on the firewall and there is an unchecked entry called "Allow Source Routed Addresses".
The firewall manual says that source routed addressing is not usually legitimate, could this be what is happening?
But again the message is getting to the SMTP server.
I am very confused by this and I really need to resolve this issue.
I appreciate the time and help you have given and any more will greatly appreciated as well.
I am also pasting the last email with the conversations and data about the problem.
Thanks,
Brad

As was mentioned, ping can be blocked. However, that IP doesn't resolve and telnetting on 25 doesn't respond.

webcontrolcenter.com does not resolve to that IP either. Since it's all originating from the same domain though, my first thought is to check any spam controls that may be causing the problem My second thought is something with DNS resolution is causing the server to reject the mail. Just throwing stuff to the wind here as I troll...
