after i finished exchange 2007 installation when i setup outlook client i get the message " name can't be resolved. bookmark is not valid" .
any suggestion?

hi,

does that user has valid email address?
if not then pls troubleshoot on that part

thnx for ur help ismail.
but the problem that i can access it using pop3 and smtp setings but when i try to setup exchange account i get this message.
the machine i try from is not part of domain and i try from another machine joined domain also.

i try from another machine joined to domain and before i do that new installation i could conenct from that machine wich is not joined to domain and everything worked just fine.
i think the problem is with GC or OAB.
any recommendations?

i still get the same error.
and in event viewer i can see this error:

and from the help i can't get a solution.
i revised the distribution and it's only the offline address book.
how to set permissions for offline address book?

These errors might be caused by the local GC not responding properly check the connectivity and try to reboot atleast once that GC.

thnx alot. restart solved it but i had a pending previous installation of exchange 2007 and i faild in recoverserver mode so i used adsiedit.msc tool to delete all previous exchange objects from schema and start a new exchange server installation. after i finished the installation once i opened the exchange manager i see all user accounts with predefined mail addresses and with aliases also. i moved all acounts to a new data base i created and every thing was fine.
when i setup pop3 account it's working fine but when i try to setup exchange account after i press send/recieve i get the error "an object couldn't be found" . i look to event log i find :
1-Microsoft Exchange System Attendant reported an error '0x80072020' in its DS Monitoring thread.
2- Failed to generate offline Address Book, error '80072020'
3- Microsoft Exchange System Attendant reported an error '0x80072020' when setting DS notification.

if i setup outlook account without marking exchange cached mode i don't get this error but when i check that mark i get this error.

i really don't know if the cause is that old pending installation or what!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now i managed to solve this problem but the main problem now that all users is not listed in global address list but listed in all users address list. second major problem that offline address book is not distributed to outlook 2003 clinets or 2007 clients.
is there any recommendations?!!!

hi,
i used it but no errors are indicated or nothing related to OAB is listed.
which test in BPA u recoomend me to do.
i run all tests and no errors related to OAB or golbal address list is listed.
when i do send/recieve i get no errors now but my main problem that global address list doesn't contain all users and when i'm offline i can't see global address list or offline address book just nothing.

Clear the application log
Please restart your microsoft exchange system attendant service
Offline Address Book ==ESM==>Recipients==>Offline Address
List==>Default Offline Address List and try to update

this pass for ESM is not valid in exchange 2007 ESM
OAB pass in exchange 2007 ESM is:
organization configuration==> mail box ==> offline address book ==> default offline address book ==> update.
is this is the right path?
when i do update i get this error in application log.

and the help article is not valid for exchange 2007 cause i can't find the path described in that article and i don't know how to set logging level for that.

hi,

is it a migration installation, if this is the case i believe that system folder is not replicated.

Try to add replica for OAB and schedule free bsy

hi,

one more thing i would like to add here is that...
we have OAB associated with mailbox store, if you go to mailbox store properties are you able to see the association.

yes it's associated with default offline address book.
i can see the located in exchange for OAB folder distribution.
i added permissions for share and security for domain users though it's not needed but like i did everything.
