cant install... one prereq failure, help!!

im using the 32bit version of beta2. i had a server with exchange2003 installed... i completely uninstalled exchange 2003 from this server, and now when i
try to install exchange 2007 the setup is telling me the existing exchange org is not in native mode so it cant continue... there IS no existing exchange org!!!

what do i do? i dont want to rebuild the server

Below article should help you remove E2K3 completely from both the Server and AD.

I think it is referring to your Active Directory which must be in Native Mode. Below are the steps to convert:
  1. Start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Domains and Trusts snap-in.
  2. Right-click the domain you want to convert to native mode, and select Properties.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Click Change Mode, as the Screen shows.

  5. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
  6. Click Apply to return to the main dialog box.
  7. A success message  will display.

  8. Click OK.
  9. Reboot the machine.
