Sure, no problems, but it will require some admin work. For a single or a few accounts this is quite easy to handle. First, remember that if the user account has the domain.com and domain.net address, then this won't work. Exchange will always send mail from the default mail address (either .com or .net in your case). To circumvent this limitation I would suggest doing the following. Delete the domain.net address from the particular user (or which ever address is used the least). Then create a new user in your AD with the domain.net address. Have that userÆs email forwarded to the real account. Then give your user full control of the second userÆs mailbox (Properties->Security). Incoming email will be routed to the same account, and your user can now set the From: field in Outlook to the domain.net by specifying the second account name there. The drawbacks of this method are that the user must always manually select the From: address whenever it is used; you get extra accounts in your AD; you can only ôsend asö user accounts that actually are shown in the GAL. This means that you will have two users with the same name in the GAL. You must make sure that you can differentiate these two accounts (perhaps adding a ô.netö in the username û but this will show up in the name which recipients will see). But otherwise, it works like a charm!

BTW, if you just want to send mail from an address which isnÆt hosted on your server you can create a contact instead (no need for a user account thus). I use this to send mail as ômyaccount@home.seö (my private account at another ISP) instead of ômyaccount@domain.seö when necessary. You canÆt redirect incoming email to a contact to another user (thatÆs why you must create a user in the first example) but as my @home.se mail is handled externally, this still works fine (@home.se is basically an alias to my work address).

Hi,

I am just trying to setup this method. I now have the permission setup to view another mailbox. The only thing is that if I want to set the From address I can use ANY user account address. Is there a way to limit this to only the account I have permission to edit? Or anyone could send an email from a director of the company.

The other thing is that when you send an email from another users name the email appears in my sent items, not the other one.

I hope that make sense.

Is there something I should be doing?

Many Thanks

Neil
