Hi

We have installed Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003 and already setup Forestprep and Domainprep on the same sever.

I have also registered my domain (mydomain.com) and map with Static IP (61.11.xx.xx) in the hosting company.

Now I am worried about dns configuration on my exchange server. My Exchange Server installed internal network (192.168.1.1).

I wonder if anyone guide me step by step dns configuration on my server, can some point me to which record need to put in my dns server.

Domain Name : mydomain.com
Hostname : webins
Static IP : 65.11.X.X (Provided by hosting company)
Internal IP : 192.168.1.1

Note : My ISP static ip is different than provided by hosting company.
I have just register my domain in the hosting company and my server is hosted in our premises only.

I wonder if anyone guide me step by step dns configuration and furthere settings require to do from ISP.

Rgs

Normally you would configure your Exchange server to use your internal IP addresses and point DNS to your internal DC/DNS server.

On your DNS server, you would configure forward addresses to your ISP's DNS addresses so that you can resolve external DNS names for web, email etc
Also you would configure MX records to point to your Exchange server.

On your Firewall/ICS/NAT router you would configure your static IP address to map to internal ip addresses so that email can be received on your static IP, the firewall would then convert it to an internal IP address and then reach your exchange server.
e.g.

Hope this helps.

Just a clarification:
The MX record should be set on your external DNS and point to your Exchange servers IP, either directly (not recommended), to an IP address in your firewall that maps to your Exchange servers internal address or to a SMTP relay server in your DMZ.
