On and Off users get this message and it seems intermittent
You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. <servername.domain.com #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for xyz@domainname.com>
Any ideas why?
I noticed if I got to this users properties page -> exchange general -> Send on Behalf and see this user there .. it seems to work which is odd.
Any permanent fix?
Thanks

This can occur if the Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay... check box is not selected on the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) virtual server
The 5.7.1 error code can also occur when the Anonymous access check box has been disalbed.
Check both of this and Restart both the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service and the Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service.

Do you have any related Event Log errors that might help track down the problem?

Madcow, did you check to see if your server is not listed as unsolicited commercial e-mail lists, here where you can check and make sure http://www.dnsstuff.com/ Also here is the link list of steps you have to go through one by one to see which scenario is close to your environment, one has already been addressed above, go trough the other possibilities. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=895853&SD=tech Cheers oz

I've had this issue happen before and it was due to not having my routing groups configured properly (I think). I ended up just moving the server that was having the issue into the main routing group as I really didn't have a need for more than one routing group. That seemed to do the trick. -Dan
