Hi There
I have SBS2003 SR2 install and serviced packed. Rendomly I am getting NDR's when sending email internally or people sending email into the company, it is a 5.7.1 error, that basically says the user does not exist, but if you immediately resend the email it works fine, error just seems to be random.
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Philip

NDRs for internal messages?  Have the affected recipients changed their AD names, SMTP addresses, or Exchange aliases recently?  Are the messages that bounce new messages or replies?  Are you Outlook to suggest names when addressing messages?

NDR's for Internal messages and incomming external, no AD, email address or alias change, server installed one month ago with new users and no changes since then change. Bounced messages are replies or new messages (random) and names are resolved from GAL first using outlook 2003

Check Message Tracking - what does it say about these bounced messages?
Do you have a mail gateway that accepts and forwards messages in front of your Exchange server?

As soon as I get into work I will check the tracking log and see what is says about the bounced emails. There is no gateway before the exchange Server. Internet-Router-Firewall-Exchange Server

anything resolved on this? I'm having the same issue with the same error code but I just migrated to a new exchange machine with a new name.  the NDR's are random, not the same people everytime.  Also its random who can send to whom.  For instance, I could send to John Smith but Sally Doe gets an NDR when sending to John Smith.  These are new emails, not replies to old emails.  Any ideas?

Well I figured out my problem (i think).  When I migrated to the new server (with the new name) I needed to make an entirely new profile instead of just changing the profile that already existed to point to the new server.

All my profiles are new so that would not work for me, but I hope it sorts out your problem, cheers
