Our server runs Exchange 5.0, the clients run Outlook 2000. These are the symptoms - there are messages in the client's inbox... they are read... a few minutes later, Outlook redelivers all the messages in the inbox which have been marked read, with new dates/times and marked as unread. This occurs into infinity until the messages are deleted. This occurs for both messages originating locally and those originating on the internet. I have looked at the event viewer on the server, and there are no entries which seem to be related to this. This problem is occuring for multiple users. Does anyone have any ideas? - zan

This is happening to ALL messages left in inbox. I have an exchange level virus scanner installed that hasn't detected anything with the newest definitions.

Hey zan01, Did you ever get this issue resolved? I have the same exact problem. We're using Exchange 5.5 with Outlook 2000 and I don't have any virii on my machine. One thing I did noticed is that if you move new messages out of the inbox, they will not duplicate. But you would have to create folders to route the new messages into. That is what I have been doing but it's getting old quick. CB

Well yes, it is resolved. The IT guy that came to deal with the sever's virus also looked at all the worksations that were having the mail problem. (Please realize that i am just a poor CAD drafter, not an IT guru) He said that the machines which were having the problem had both an exchange service and an internet mail service installed. This apparently had not caused this problem before, but when he deleted the internet mail service, leaving only an exchange service, the problem disappeared. Hope that helps.

Hey zan01, It's great that you got that resolved but are you able to send and recieve e-mail without that Internet Mail service? I thought, from everything I read up to this point, that both were needed. Oh man. This is the last Microsoft product we'll be using. Their tech support couldn't even help me with this problem. Thanks, CB

Actually yes, the email works just fine. Only the clients have the internet service removed, not the server. The clients have only an exchange account and it seems to work fine.
