Hi. I've looked through the forums and I can't find any help with my issue so I'm posting this. If there already is a solution for my problem posted I apologize.

Here is my setup:
1. 2 servers running Win2K Server
2. AD -> 1 server is PDC and the other is BDC
3. The BDC is running Exchange 2000
4. DNS running on PDC
5. All PCs pointing to PDC for DNS resolution
6. All PCs have IPs of 10.x.x.x
7. Router is setup to pass ports 25 & 110 to
internal IP of BDC (mail server)
8. Domain name is masterpatton.com

My problem is that I can not accept mail from outside my intranet. I can send/recieve to any user (client) locally and send (relay) to external email address. Whenever an outside address (say hotmail) tries to send to an email at my domain it will get bounced back. I have went to dnsreport.com and all of my DNS checks out (NS, MX, etc). It tells me that "the connection closed before I received all my data (state 1) when trying to make a connection to my mail server.

I know that ports 25 & 110 are not blocked by my ISP b/c I can telnet from a different ISP into my mailserver (had a friend do it as well to test). I've even ran the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer Tool from Microsoft to see if any of its detected problems were the culprit. They weren't.

Any help is appreciated.

Seems I have solved my problem. In the properties of the Default SMTP Virtual Server I had connection control setup to only allow users on my local subnet to connect to my mail server. DUH! I also added a SMTP connector. I am now able to receive external mail to my domain.

I just wanted to post this just in case anyone was experiencing the problem I was.

I also made sure to setup relay restrictions (which I HIGHLY recommend).
