Hello everyone :)

First of all i must say that i am totally beginner with exchange so i really appreciate any help :)

The last days i am trying to figure out what i am doing wrong to my exchange machine...
I am running microsoft exchange 2003 std with sp2 on a windows server 2003 R2.

The edb file is : 68Gb and the stm file is : 10Gb

I know about the jetstore limit @ 72gb and i have done the registry tweak months ago.

At first i have seen event 9688 warning , and i decided to export some big mailboxes to pst files and delete all the messages of those accounts from the exchange machine. I also deleted messages from the Recover Deleted items. I've checked from exchange system manager that those mailboxes reduce its size. The database size didnt changed at all.

Now i am getting event 9685 warning...

Pleaseeeeeeeeeee help me ! i am desperate

{sorry about my bad english}

hi mate,

I believe you have followed this article already:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912375

Moreover in the 75GB limitation i guess the whitespace is removed automatically. If it is exceeding then you need to upgrade the version to enterprise edition.

Moreover after running online maintenanence how much free space it is showing - you can check that in the application log - 1221 event id.

yes my friend , i have already follow that article :)

But i have (i think...) good news!
I logged into the server and i opened the event viewer , i filtered the results only to show me the event with ID 1221 {MSExchangeIs Mailbox Store} and i got this ... :)

"The database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (ServerNameHere)" has 15169 megabytes of free space after online defragmentation has terminated. "

I dont really know but i will try a wild guess...
After the online defragmentation i have 15Gb free on the database (priv1.edb file). Even if the priv1.edb file is still 68Gb there is a lot of space in it that it can be filled with new data.

If my assumption is correct , if i perform an offline defragmentation to my storage group the database files will be smaller [?]  :)

This means that when you perform an offline defrag- your database (which was mentioned in the event id 1221) will be reduced by 15169 MB of space.

is there something i must know before i perform the offline defrag? I do know that it takes alot of time to finish , and that the correct syntax of eseutil command is : eseutil /d {database path here\priv1.edb}

do i miss something;

*i hope not*
