Hi all, 1st at all : happy new year 2008 2nd : sorry with my english grammar, hope you excuse me... here is the fact : 1 domain 2003 1 exchange 2003 server (the 1st installed) 1 exchange 2007 server (the last installed) 90% of the mailbox are stored with exch2003, the public folder too. what i need : to uninstall the exch2007 server and keep the exch2003 server fully functionnal. the "billion dollar" question : is it possible to uninstall the exch2007 server without to compromise the active directory ? if so, what is the best way ? "uninstall exch2007 + forestprep + domainprep" is sufficient ? if not, how to perform a stable mail active directory schema downgrade ? sorry, it's 4 "billion dollar" questions... anyway, thank you to help me

hi, First of all i would like to know why you want to uninstall.. (means any technical reason behind it.) I would recommend you to go with formal uninstallation i.e uninstall it from add or remove program and this is will remove your exchagne information from AD itself.

the 4 main reasons are : - because we are a seller partner with microsoft, its team + our seller service + some of our technicians + some of hierarchical decision have decided to deploy exch 2007 to become a demonstration window for our clients. all of them have forgotten the way to test before to deploy in a product environnment... - we're using an third party add-on to manage disclaimer, etc. to be compliant with exch2007, we need a new licence which is expensive - we're working with blackberry which is compliant with exch 2007 ; but we haven't time to spend to validate the migration of the id. - we have to tickets with microsoft ; one about outlook 2007 and the "out of office" activation ; the second about the external mail redirection which doesn't work if exch 2007 is the receiver (mail relay in dmz ; isa server push this mail to exchange ; with exch 2003, it's ok but, not ok with exch 2007). anyway, we are fed up to spend lots of time to resolve the problems. so, we prefer to come back to an efficient exch 2003 functional ; then, to test seriously the migration to exch 2007 ; and, to the end, deploy again exch 2007. again, again, my apologize for my english grammar ; hope you understand what i write.

hi mate, Thanks for sharing the reason why you need to uninstall. As i said earlier the best way is going through ADD/REMOVE Program.
