Hi, I wonder if someone can point me to the right direction,
I did clone exchange server 2003 ( acting as secondary DNS, CA service ) using Acronis universal restore to the new hardware, when I switched servers AD sync with PDC but I got access denied trying to access server  from PDC , in even log got :The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/exchange_server.org.  The target name used was cifs/exchange_server. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named  machine accounts in the target realm (COMPANY.ORG), and the client realm. As far as I know can be solved by unjoining server from domain and rejoining but..CA service prohibits me from changing computer ID , any suggestion how to solve that ?

I have been into similar situation, taking the Exchange from domain out and adding it back is not a problem, it will work, even though it is scary thing to do in my opinion.
I have done cloning with VMware and Exchange (Not supported by Microsoft) never had any problems.
Having CA on the Exchange server???? (-:, I understand if the $$$ is a problem, anyway, if you really have no other  option, and if I were you I would do this
Build new server on the new hardware, migrate exchange and other services except CA.
Uninstall exchange and all other tings from this server leave it as CA only, and use free toll from VMware P2V and virtualize it , and run it from another server as it is

Best
Oz

Hi Oz,
Thanks for reply, Regarding CA, I'm trying to clean up some mess , previous admin set it up and you can imagine how it's done if he failed even  basic MCP exam. Anyway will build a new server as you suggested, looks like I have no other quick option.
Thanks again
