I have a new network setup that I am in charge of and I keep having issues with the exchange installation. I have a test setup that mirros my new network to experiment with first.
I have 1 w2k3 DC and 1 W2k DC the exchange box is running 2k3. I ran forrest prep on the dc aswell as domain prep. I ran netdiag and dcdiag and passed with flying colors

yet during the installtion i get some type of error during the forrest prep of the installtion if I cancel it the rest of the install works fine yet exchange wont start.. any idea

? Who holds the FSMO roles the 2003 DC or the 2000 DC?
? Also which machine did you run the forest prep and domain prep on?

My guess is that the 2k dc is giving you some head aches. I have installed exchange 2003 in 2 clients all with win 2003 dcs with no issues.
