Hello,

I've come across the following error on an exchange server that is running AD on the same box.  The error is as follows.

Error ID number: c1030af3
Error Message

The HTTP service used by Public Folders is not available, possible causes are that Public stores are not mounted and the Information Store service is not running.

I've referred to the MS technet website but i am going to need further help in troubling this error.

Thanks for reading

I'm not trying to replicate a public folder that already exists.  It won't let me create any public folders in my first storage group because of that error.  As soon as i click on the pulic folder i get the error

I understand, someone had this same issue 2 months ago and it was because he changed his rus config. He posted in yahoogroups, I will try to find it if I run across it.

Verify step one in the article, Exchange Server computer that contains the public folder store that is not stamped does not receive the public folder hierarchy from another Exchange Server computer.

If this is the case you will get an error with that error code when you expand. This may or may not be the cause in your case as there can be multiple reasons for that erorr code.

Hi agian,

The server that i have the problem with is a clients Server that i have inherited as a new employee of the firm i work for.  I've tried the first step of that process on our own Windows 2003 / exchange 2003 server which i setup.  On our server i can create public folders and do everything i have asked it to do so far.  The public folder on our own server doesn't have a proxy address and i still can do what i can't on the other server, create public folders.  Is it a problem with the installtion?

Did you verify this step? If your pf server does not have a proxy address you will get the c1030af3 error. Your pf server should have a proxy address in this format. If not, manually add it in their. But afterwards you may want to investigate to see if you have RUS issues.

ExchangeServerName-IS@yourdomain.com

Start the Active Directory Service Interface (ADSI) Edit tool. To do this, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.

Note ADSI Edit is included with the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Support Tools and with the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Support Tools. To install the Windows 2000 Support Tools, double-click Setup.exe in the Support\Tools folder on the Windows 2000 CD. To install the Windows Server 2003 Support Tools, double-click Suptools.msi in the Support\Tools folder on the Windows Server 2003 CD.

2.
Connect to a domain controller if you are not already connected.

3.
Note In this step, "contoso.com" is a placeholder for your domain name, and the other italic words are also placeholders.

Expand Configuration Container [computername.contoso.com], expand CN=Configuration,DC=contoso,DC=com, expand CN=Services, expand CN=Microsoft Exchange, expand CN=OrganizationName, expand CN=Administrative Groups, expand CN=AdministrativeGroupName, expand CN=Servers, expand CN=ExchangeServerName, expand CN=InformationStore, and then click CN=First Storage Group.

4.
In the right pane, right-click CN=Public Folder Store (EXCHANGESERVERNAME), and then click Properties.

5.
In the Select which properties to view list, click Both.

6.
In the Select a property to view list, click proxyAddresses.

7.
In the Value(s) box, determine whether an e-mail address is assigned. Typically, the public folder store is stamped with a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address that appears similar to the following:
SMTP:ExchangeServerName-IS@contoso.com

8.
In the Select a property to view list, click mail.

9.
In the Value(s) box, verify the SMTP address is the same as the SMTP address that is displayed in step 7.
If the proxyAddress value is incorrect or is missing, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles for informatio
