hi

WE have three office located in different cities. Our mails are currently hosted by WEB HOSTING company. currently our registered domain name is abcd.com
SCENARIO
unfortunately or mistakenly all of our three offices have their Domain controllers with their own specific names...
e.g Head office Domain name is      headoffice.com
   Branch1 domain name is           branch1.com
   Branch2 domain name is           Branch2.com
Registered internet domain name is         abcd.com
Email accounts are already created on abcd.com. domain user accounts are created on their respective domain controllers. But email accounts are configured at abcd.com. e.g user domain account is david@branch1.com but his email account is david@abcd.com. same case in the other domains.

What we want
1.) How can i install exchange in our head office. and what could be the name of our domain ? As currently our domain name in Head office is headoffice.com.
2.) how can i create the emails account of other users in Branch1 and Branch 2

If i install Exchange server in our Head office..users email will be like this xyz@headoffice.com
123@headoffice.com

But issue is that our currently emails are like that xyz@abcd.com, 123@abcd.com

How can i accomplish this with exchange server installed in head office. Do i need to install in the existing domain i-e headoffice.com or i have to install new active directory domain forest and then install exchange over that domain controller?

Urgent help is highly appreciated.

You are over-complicating this.
Exchange doesn't care about the name of your WINDOWS domain providing it isn't a single name - so domain rather than domain.com. As long as the domains are listed in the accepted domains list then Exchange will accept the messages.

You will need to create full user accounts for everyone, including those in the other sites and then use trusts to authenticate (unless they are SBS servers - in which case the users will have to authenticate when they start Outlook).

hi

Thanx for your response ..

I will create trust between domains. But what about the passwords ?

As i mentioned earlier that emails are hosted by third party company. so after creating trust and creating user accounts, Now every user has to remember three passwords.right ?
1.) Local domain login password.
2.) Exchange email account password
3.) Email password (only if user access emails through internet using third party web interface)

Isn't it confusing ? could u please give me step by step procedure that how can i implement exchange in our existing scenario ?

Your help is highly appreciated. coz i need to do it urgently ..but many confusions ..

Any ways thanx for your guidance.

If you need urgent assistance then you should either call Microsoft or hire a consultant to assist. A forum is not really the best place to seek urgent assistance.

Why are you still using a third party email vendor? Exchange is not designed to work in that way. You should have all email delivered to the Exchange environment, with the MX records pointing straight to Exchange.

You obviously do not understand how trusts work. I would suggest that you go and do some reading to learn how they operate. If you have a trust between the domains and setup the permissions correctly then the users do not need to know the password for the accounts in the other domain. Their own account does the work as it is trusted.

Simon.
