Hello all,

I am setting up a second windows 2003 domain and exchange server 2003 on my network and have to move 20 users mailboxes from the first exchange server 2003 and domain to the new one.

Whats the best way of doing this? Both server and exchange server 2003 and windows 2003

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Thanks for the links.

Will this work across domains? I have my "old" users on one domain and the "new" users on another. I will be respecting the logon names and user details but the SID will be different because I have to create the users from scratch on the new domain. Or can I move them too?

Is your trust is in place? If yes, then probably you can use ADMT tool to migrate user object with SID.

Once this is accomplised, you can use exchange migration wizard to move mailbox.

Remember that you will be running this tool from target machine.

While moving mailbox that does'nt means that source mailbox is gone. It will create a copy of mailbox in the target forest.

You can then associate the mailbox with the Migrated users.

Let me know if you need more info...

Hi,

You need to create new users in new domain if you don't want to include data of previous mailboxes. After creating the trust relationship, you can move mailbox from one domain to another using Exchange task wizard. You can view the complete steps of this wizard out here: http://www.blog.****.org/move-exchange-mailbox-to-another-domain-by-exchange-mailbox-wizard.html

Whole server mailbox data is stored in EDB files of Exchange Server Database. EDB files are like depot of all the mailboxes and have all the mailbox details of all users present in the network. But there are several unobserved reasons making such files susceptible to corruption. Accessing EDB files is not so easy when Exchange Server database is corrupted. get more info: http://www.****-****.com/recover-mailbox-from-edb.html
