when I try to remove the database under the
Server configuration
Mailbox
   Email

its failed to proceed with this error:
the storage group "email\first storage group" cannot be removed when at least one database exists under it.

I dismounted the database in the IS but there is no option to remove.
can someone please help me?
I am using E2K7 with release version 8.1 build 240

Hiya have you tried it from the Exchange Management shell?

Dismount-Database -id <DatabaseName>
Remove-MailboxDatabse -id <Database Name>

Cheers

try Dismount-Database -id mailbox1
it returned an error:
the operation cannot be performed because object "mailbox1" could not be found on domain controller "server"

yes, tried that too, didn't help, return the same error code.
using windows explorer, went to the location where the database file should be and there is no such file called mailbox1
