SargeDev -> Why do some mailitems show as note ? (3.Nov.2002 12:29:00 PM)

Hi there,

After reading Mark Fugatt's post from june 30rd regarding "Message Archiving with Exchange 2000" I'm trying to set up a public folder for archiving all mesages sent or recieved to a mailbox store.

Earlier on i used a "dummy" mailbox as the container for these mail's and it worked OK, but when i create a new public folder to hold the mesasges something strange (to me) happens with the items in this public folder:

All outbound mail is archived as mailitems and both the recipient and sender fields show the user/email adress which send/recieve the mail.
The icon/format for the item shows as a mailitem in my Outlook 2002.

On inbound mails the sender shows the (external) sender as the email-address as it should, but the reciever shows only as the name of my public folder. The icon/format for the mail is shown as a "note" ????

In "Client permissions" for the folder I've given the "Anonymous" and "Default" user "Contributor" rights - "Administrator" has "Owner" rights and our CEO has the rights to read the folder items ("Custom")

The problem is that it isn't possible to se who the reciever of the inbound mail is - it just shows the name of the public folder - and why the f... does it show as a note and not as a mail ???

Does anyone has a hint to what I'm missing ?

Any hints are welcome !

it is known Exchange 2000 feature - please look at "XADM: Mail to a Public Folder Is Set as IPM.Post Instead of IPM.Note" (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292484)

You can try the following third-party applications:
