i have been asked to keep two exchanges servers available in case one goes down. Anyone know if i can migrate user and mailbox contents to a standby server once or twice a week while keeping the original one up and running? thx

Easier way is Clustering.

must i off load data to a shared storage (e.g. compaq 4100)

Yes.

The shared SCSI storage will hold the information stores and the Nodes will hold the exchange server.

On failure of one Exchange Node, the other Node can be brought up.

Cost effective and saves a lot of headache.
