Exchange 2003 is part of the SBS 2003 package, so it's already installed. You just need to configure it.

It would not install with the sbs package because of the problem I had mentioned. Does any one have any thoughts to why?????

Well, I haven't used SBS very much, and SBS2003 not at all. But if I'm not mistaken SBS2003 installs SharePoint Services on the machine. You might want to remove that service before you try installing Exchange.

I doubt removing Sharepoint will have any positive effect, as it doesn't run under the Default Website.

What error message dfd you get during the installation ?

Well, it's a known issue, see e.g. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;277567. SP totally hosed a test server of mine.

Yes you're right but only with Exchange 2000 (without any SP applied).

From the MS KB you refer to:

SharePoint Portal Server can only coexist with Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1) or above.

I have a SBS 2003 server running in production, no problems with any coexisting between the SharePoint site and Exchange 2003 at all.

You're right Henrik, I missed the fact that the articel referred to Exchange 2000. But I had read some articles on the issue before, took me a while to browse my bookmarks, see the following links on SP Portal Server 2001 and 2003:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825505
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=295012

Both versions are not supported/won't work with any version of Exchange. Now, I don't know which version of Sharepoint is packaged in SBS 2003, but it would seem worthwhile to at least try to see if this applies? But perhaps I've mixed up the versions, there seem to exist some different versions of Sharepoint.

Now I'm defintely not a SharePoint expert, but 825505 & 295012 seems to refer to SharePoint Portal Server, and not Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 (WSS) which are the product included with SBS 2003, don't know if that makes a difference.

Anyway back to the topic, I would be a little cautious removing the WSS component as it as a minimum will screw up the CompanyWeb site.
