I had this problem after migrating users from an w2k server w2k3 exchnage to w2k3 server with w2k3 exchange. None of the above worked for me. I resolved the problem by dismounting both (old and new) public stores, then copying the old public store (pub1.edb and pub1.stm) from w2k server to the new server. Then reset the system files (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=822444) on the new server. I know it's a bit dodgey but the problems gone now....

To jimr ...

Check up the System Policies container. If u have policiess that point to your mailbox-db, make sure that the right Offline address list is it specified for every mail store. Dicovered that if u remove the offline address lists and then recreate them (with the same name)... they don't show up in the Offline address field.

Reading the posts helped me piece together a solution that worked for me.

Exchange 2003 on Windows 2000 Server.

First of all my Default Offline Address List was corrupt. Wierd characters in the name like when you have a duplicate AD entry.
I deleted it and recreated it.

The main Solution (for me):

1. Right click on mailbox store > properties.
If you have no offline address book selected, Browse > Select the Default Offline Address List.

2. RESTART The Information Store.

3. Rebuild the Offline Address List.

Thats it.

Thanks to all who contributed to resolving this frustrating error for me and others.

Rob

My GC server crashed, so i had to fall back to the initial exchange that was luckely still running and made replications of the public folders, however my clients got the 0X8004010F error, i can rebuild my OAB all i like,does not solve the problem. If i do go to the properties of my mailbox store, there i find no entry in the OAB, if i try and browse, it's like it cant find AD ????? [Roll Eyes]

nevermind , i think i answered my own question, i'm not supposed to browse to a object on another machine, just had to select advance find and and it found my offline address book. had to restart the info store, but this resolved the OAB -0X8004010F- error
Tnx guys, keep up the good work, fight the fight ! [Big Grin]

OK guys... this thread has pretty much the complete solution in it. But only 1 person touched on it... that was epresley... here's the fix...

1. make sure your offline address book has been rebuilt.

2. right click on mailbox store, select properties... right on the first general screen in the middle, you have no offline address book selected... click browse, advanced, find now and select it...

3. MOST IMPORTANT! restart you information store service from services mmc console.

That's it.
---------------------------------------------

Corey you're a star!
I'd tried all of these things and more as they'd been mentioned in previous posts, just not in this order. Did as you said and it sorted mine right out.
Thanks again.....

What is the Services MMC console and where is it? i have seen an information store once upon a time but have no idea where it is

After migration to Exch2k3 on Ent Server2k3. All Outlook 2003 clients, started getting same error code Microsoft Exchange offline address book 0X8004010F.
This worked for me and fixed the problem.
Build a new profile
Close Outlook;
Start;
Settings;
Control Panel;
Mail (if using Classic view) or User Accounts; then Mail (if using Category view);
Show Profiles;
Add;
Give it a name like Exchange new so you know this is your new profile;
OK;
Next;
select Microsoft Exchange Server;
Next;
enter your FQDN Exchan server in the "Microsoft Exchange Server" box;
leave the "Cached Exchange Mode" box checked if you want to always have a local copy of your email on your computer (this is recommended for laptops and remote users, but not for Windows workstations directly connected to the LAN at SLAC);
enter your userid (e.g. mjcrume) in the "User Name" field;
press Check Name button to make sure it finds your account;
Next;
Finish;
now you are back at the Mail window and should select "Always use this profile" option at the bottom;
then select your new unicode profile from the drop-down list;
press OK to finish;
Start Outlook. It will let you know it is initializing things and open your mailbox for the first time.
IMPORTANT: Turn off Auto-Archive: Tools; Options; Other tab; Autoarchive button. Uncheck top box.
Verifying Your Profile is Unicode Mode
Within Outlook, right-click on the top level folder (e.g. Crume, Mary J.) in the folder list at the left;
select Properties;
press Advanced button;
select Advanced tab;
make sure it says this at the bottom "Outlook is running in Unicode mode against the Microsoft Exchange server".
If it doesn't say this then you may have left an Outlook open during the process and just need to close it to get the opportunity to open the new profile. Or, you may have failed to select the new unicode profile to be the default one and you need to go back and do that.
Wait a few days to make sure this new profile is working OK. Then you can remove the old profile if you wish.
Good luck

Check the following:
Properties of mailbox store (NOT public folder store), general tab, Offline Address Book. If there is noting there browse to the default offline address list.

I had this error (0x8004010F) on a client running Outlook XP with Exchange 2003. My solution was to delete his mail profile in Outlook and then recreate it.

Worked like a charm.
