I'm working on Microsoft Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition on windows 2003 ent. edition into an LAN network with a AD Forest with *root* domains for eg. (machinename.swan.com).

Now I want to install one more child domain in the same domain for my additional exchange server? But my child domain is not in the same network. It is in same location but different network (linux machine work as a router between two different network).

Is this configuration possible? If this possible what would be the name for my child domain(for eg that is mymachine1.swan.com or any different format. And if so, would there be a better way to go about it? Thanks for any input!

Regards

It's certainly possible. You can create child.swan.com anywhere you want, globall, so long as you have network connectivity to a the Infrastructure Master in swan.com.
If you want to put Exchange Servers or Users into the child domain you will need to remember to do the setup.exe /domainprep int he child domain. No need to do the /forestprep again though obviously.
