I'm working on a small deployment plan between two sites. I really want to run just one Exchange 2003 server but I can install a second if necessary. Here are the deatails:

site A 40 users (Exchange 2003)
site b 25 users (secondary DC & GC)

DSL connection with 256kb up load.

I'm told that a VPN between the two sites is very slow. I'm not in the position to purchase XP pro & Outlook 2003 to deploy RPC/HTTP at site_b.

Also, OWA will not be considered as part of this deployment. Meaning I can't use it at site_b.

I guess I'm looking for some ideas. I don't have time to test the DSL line to see if it will support pulling mail across sites (MAPI) - I'm told it won't.

I was really hoping to use these new features of Exchange 2003 but I don't know anyone who has deployed this type of scenerio with Exchange 2003.

Feels like I'm going to have to install a second Exchange server and then setup up a SMTP connector since I won't have a dedicated link between the two sites.

Can anyone add to this?

Tim

Hi,

for a slow connectivity its a possible scenario.

If you can`t use OWA or RPC over HTTP(s) you can do it with pop3 and smtp. For a slow conntection better than other protocols.
Than you only need one exchange server!

Both choices are possible.

Hope this helps you.
