wolfsonbr -> OWA Server Requirements (13.Jan.2005 5:09:00 PM)

Currently, my organization has a single Exchange 2003 Standard server running on top of Windows 2000 server. We currently do not provide any means of accessing email from outside of the organization. We are in the process of developing a plan of implementation for OWA. We plan on configuring an additional server that would be in our perimeter network. It is my understanding that this server would have to be a member server, but is NOT required to be a domain controller. Is this correct? Thanks for the help in advanced.

Putting the front-end server in the DMZ was best practice, but because of the number of ports you need to open in your intranet firewall it's actually recommended to place the front-end on the internal network, then place an ISA Server or similar in your DMZ.
