rkenny -> MSExchangeDSAccess Error (21.Jan.2005 7:27:00 PM)

Event ID: 2107, 2119, 2123.

Please help!

My exchange server 2003 becomes unavailable after logging these error messages. The exchange services somehow fizzle out as well, and everything stops. then it all comes up again.

I have 2 GCs, 3 DCs, and they are all in the same site. My exchange is a member server. All Servers run Windows 2003

has anyone seen this error before, and what is the way round it.

Thanks

exchangerock -> RE: MSExchangeDSAccess Error (23.Jan.2005 11:18:00 PM)

Hi,

Please check the following :

1. Check if DNS is resolving the names. Nslookup.

2. Reboot the GCs and then reboot exchange.

3. Open ESM and properties of Server and goto DSAccess tab and check if it is filled with server names, DC, GC and Working DCs.

4. These are only communication errors with DCs.

Reply with any errors.

Exchange Rock

BeTaCam -> RE: MSExchangeDSAccess Error (24.Jan.2005 6:09:00 PM)

1. Stop and Start the DNS Server Services on the GC and The DC machines.

2. On the Exchange Server, where does the DNS entry point to ?

Change the Primary to point to an AD integrated DNS or another GC in your organization within the same IP Site.

3.Set all Exchange services to stop and manual.

4.Open - Properties, DSACCESS, and uncheck the Automatic checkbox

5.Add the DC and The GC's Manually

6.apply and restart the server

7.ipconfig/flushdns and ipconfig/registerdns

8.before you start the Exchange services, on the GC's click on DNS Server properties and choose clear cache

9. Nslookup yourdomain.com should point to all IPaddresses of your GC's n DC's.

10. On Exchange Server start the DNSClient and DHCPClient service, Server Service.

11. Start exchange services manually

12. Flush the cache by typing this on the command prompt

Net Stop Resvc
Net Stop SMTPSvc
Net Start SMTPSvc
Net Start Resvc

The logs must be clear of this errors now...!

rkenny -> RE: MSExchangeDSAccess Error (24.Jan.2005 6:34:00 PM)

My DNS entry points to my DCs and GCs. They are also the DNS Servers. nslookup resolves to the correct IPs. I will do as you suggested. Thanks

Hi Betcam,

I have followed the procedure, and it seem like they (GCs, DCs, DNS and Exch) all laughed at me! and the errors are back...

The interesting thing is that it actually switches to another DC when it claims the current one is down!

I checked all that too! ESM shows the correct configuration. My working DCs and GCs are listed. Nslookup is good too!

Thanks

rkenny -> RE: MSExchangeDSAccess Error (25.Jan.2005 2:28:00 PM)

I noticed something else...each time i start receiving the error messages from MSExchangeDSAccess...ping dc01, gc01, gc02 resolves to the IP, but doesn't say the FQDN, and if i ping the FQDN, it says host not found.

So i edited the Host file on the exchange server to include these addresses. It solved it, but i'm not confortable because it doesn't make sense since i have a DNS server!

Help please.
