i'm on the verge of changing my MX records with my ISP and they asked me a question I couldn't answer. Let's see if I can remember it now...or let me explain what's going on.

MY hosting company hosts our www and email right now. They'll keep my www, but I'll host my own email (obviously). Anyhow, my www is like www.123.com Everyone get's their email at "whoever@123.com"

Now, I have my exchage all set up, but when I setting it up - the domain name I choose wasn't 123.com - didn't even put .com - I just put "xyz" (which the computer translates to xyz.local)

My computer name is "exch01"
So now the computer name is "exch01.xyz.local"

When my hosting company asks me for the fully qualified domain name, do I give them the computer name? give them the *.local?

I believe I have to rerun a whizard to rename the domain of the server, but don't quote me on that one.

I'm just not entirely sure what to give my hosting company (besides my public IP). They were saying it should be something like "mail.xyz.com" - is mail part of the domain name or computer name (that gets asked during setup of exchange). I can rename both or either one...help please!
