If I want to use Outlook Web Access to access Exchange e-mail remotely, do I need to actually create my Exchange account in Outlook whilst in the ofice, conected to the server?

If I had a VPN connection to my office, could I create the exchange account remotely connected to the server?

You just need a mailbox-enabled user in AD, then either send a testmail to it or open the mailbox via Outlook.

Afterwards you should be able to access your mailbox via OWA without problems.
