Hey guys,
I need to backup mail on a exchange 2003 server and import that backup to a fresh build exchange server which is new built. What is the best and most easy way of doing this???

I was thinking of logging on as indivual users and exporting their mailbox to a file, then logon to then new domain which is hosting exchange and importing it there.
Advice?

Is the new Exchange Server part of the existing Exchange organization? If yes you can just move the mailboxes using the Move Mailbox Wizard. If not I would recommend you use ExMerge from the Server, that way you don't have to export the mailboxes to .PST files on each client.

Basically i'm rebuilding the same domain controller which is hosting exchange 2003 from scratch. So it's like im starting up a new network with old mailbox's. What do you think i should do? and can you guide me to a step by step doc or page. [Smile]

If you're only planning to keep the content of the mailboxes and building everything else from scratch, you could export them to .PST files using ExMerge them import them on the new server.

You could also make use of the swing upgrade method:

How to upgrade to Exchange Server 2003 by using the swing upgrade method:
