I have a question concerning the log files that are created in this folder. I have a lot of log files that are 5 MB each is size. These add up to over 12GB of file sizes. There are many that have today's date, but a time stamp of about every 20 minutes. Can these files be deleted? or is there a way to control the creation of these files? I am running out of disk space

Those files are transaction log files which contain vital information. You can get rid of them by performing a full backup, they will then be purged into the information store(s).

When you don't backup up, they aren't purged and will therefore add up quickly depending on amount of traffic on the exchange server.

If I remember correctly, don't these compile quickly when virus software is scanning folders that should be excluded?

Symantec Exclusions
