We have 2 DC, when we reboot the one, who ever was authenticated by that DC no longer can see the GAL. This causes their outlook to hang. Is there any way of keeping a copy of the GAL on the Exchange server (member server) so that the GAL is always available, so if we reboot 1 of the 2 DCs it doesn't affect outlook/Exchange.

Regards

are both dcs global catalog servers? if you are a single domain then there is no harm in them both being gcs. the only other thing i can think of would be to make the exchange server a dc & gc. i've never promoted an exchange server to a dc so i'm not sure if you can or not. anyone else?

why don't you use the other msg board as this is dedicated to Exchange 2003.

Coz this is will not happen in Exchange 2003
