hi Tom. thanks for your responses. Unfortunately I have already followed http://www.tacteam.net/isaserverorg/exchangekit/2003rpchttp/2003rpchttp.htm at least as much as I can without having an ISA server. I'm using a Sonicwall SOHO at this point. This is for my home network and I have opted to not go with the ISA server. Are you saying that you can't get HTTP working without an ISA Server? I just don't know what to do at this point. Seems like I've tried all of the walkthroughs that everyone posts and still nada. Thanks [Frown] .

Gary

ISA server is NOT a requirement to get RPC over HTTP working.

Have you tried doing the MAPI profile setup while connected to your private LAN ?

Have your certificate been setup properly ?

Are you using the same FQDN both for the certificate and in the RPC over HTTP settings under the MAPI profile creation ?

What exactly happens ?

Well as far as I know the certificate is set up correctly. I can connect via OWA to my https://secure.exchange.com site. This also is the exact address I type in under the HTTP settings in Outlook 2003. As for the setting up the MAPI profile in the LAN I have done this. I can connect with my 2003 client internally to my exchange server fine. I was not able though to connect via HTTP internally. As soon as I enter the HTTP info and then type in the username I get an "OWA-like" login prompt asking me for a username and password. I do this and then it comes back after a few minutes and says that it was unable to connect to the exchange server.

Now one other thing... in Outlook 2003 HTTP settings I'm typing in "https://secure.exchange.com". However when I go to connect to OWA I type in https://secure.gjsolutions.net/exchange. The HTTP settings won't let me type in exchange. I'm wondering if there is a problem here.

You should not include /exchange under the Outlook RPC over HTTP profile settings. You should add the same FQDN as in your certificate configuration.

Yup. I did that. It won't even let you do /exchange.

Hi,

I'm having similar problems with this. Basic scenario is one combined Exchange server and DC (FQDN server.internal.kn.co.uk). I can access the server using OWA by going to https://kn.no-ip.com/exchange and all works but RCP fails. I have a feeling that it is because my certificate is named for the FQDN not the external address (OWA gives a cert warning about the name). Is this correct - and if it is, how do I generate another certicate (MS Cert services) which is ok with the external and internal name??

Thanks

I've tried a total of 4 different certificates, using either Microsoft CA or VeriSign 14-day Evaluation Certificate, and using either the internal or external FQDN. None of them seem to work with RPC over HTTP. I can't figure out what the problem is... any help is appreciated.
