Hey Everyone,

Here's my problem.

I'm in the beginning steps of an exchange 5.5 to 2003 migration and my problem is this:

My users on Exchange 5.5 are able to send to tehir contacts without a problem, hever my users on Exchange 2003 get an NDR of 5.4.6 ( A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your administrator.)

I think the problem is coming from the categorizer not knowing what to do. I say this because of the following:

I work for a large hospital owned by a state university and they own our domain name, abc.edu.

Any mail that is destined for our site goes through a mail relay server of theirs and then does a lookup in their Directory service to see what mail server to send this message to. And that works fine.

However, internally, my contacts do not reside on my exchange servers, but reside on their Unix box somewhere, but my contacts have the same domain name, user@abc.edu and that's where I think our categorizer gets confused. So if you guys have any ideas, please help.

You need to configure the contact email addresses to point to unix box as primary address.
e.g.

name@unixbox.abc.edu

I have tried that and it does not work.

What if I create a connector defined to do the following:

Any mail that is destined for abc.edu will go through this connector and forward the mail to the smarthost the university owns.

What do you guys think?
