chuckclasik -> Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 4:42:00 PM)

I am having a time getting messages inbound.. I can send internally as well as external but none comes in. This is a stand alone exchange 2003 server behind an ISA firewall with a published server rule created to foward port 25 to the exchange server.. Any Ideas...

you have a configuration issue somewhere as i cant telnet to your exchange server...see below
Domain rifrafmuzik.com has only one mail-server
Checking mail server (PRI=0) mail.rifrafmuzik.com [69.161.8.59]

Connection to mail server mail.rifrafmuzik.com[69.161.8.59] lost waiting for status 220
Some of your MX do not work properly

what is 69.161.8.59?? that your ISA box?? assuming it is... make sure exchange default gateway is pointing it your ISA box and make sure the internal nic of ISA doesnt have a default gateway if your ISA box has a inter/exter nic configuration

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:11:00 PM)

You hit it right on the head.. the 69.161.8.59 is my isa server with int/ext configuration. the Int nic does not have a default gateway, and the MX box has the ISA int nic for it's default gateway.. I can see the connection initiating and closing. I'm missing something... [Confused]

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:15:00 PM)

have isa not forward the mail..have isa just let anything on 25 to pass through and go to exchange... know what i mean??? i think there were to ways to do... the one way where communication is down with isa and another where communicationis done directly with exchange...isa just lets it pass through withno intervention

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:16:00 PM)

is the isa firewall installed on the exchange server?? if it is...remove it.. microsoft doesnt support that config and will tell you to remove it before going any further with Trouble shooting efforts

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:18:00 PM)

I will try to just let port 25 through.. The MX box is a stand alone server.. The ISA box is as well..

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:19:00 PM)

let me know when complete but ill continue to run tests to see if i can telnet to it...

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:28:00 PM)

I have port 25 on pass through.. I Still can't receive.. [Mad] [Mad]

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:35:00 PM)

getting connection refused... has this ever worked before??? are you just now implementeing ISA??? did you make any changes on the exchange server???

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:35:00 PM)

can you telnet and get the exchange banner from ISA to exchange?

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:37:00 PM)

nope, never worked before.. I am going to try something.. I think the ISA server is the culprit.. I have had the ISA server running for a while now.. Just implementing the MX server.. I will post an update shortly..

semorefred -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:39:00 PM)

MX server???? what you refering to? where your mx record is being hosted at your site ?

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 5:41:00 PM)

sorry,, just mean the ms exchange server.. The actual MX record is on the Domain Controller which also serves as the DNS server..

chuckclasik -> RE: Can send, internal-external. Can not receive. (29.Apr.2005 6:34:00 PM)

Does the Active Directory Connector have anything to do with it..? i'm getting unable to contact the exchange server, make sure you connections are correct id c103aa1d
