I've got a root domain with one subdomain in a Win2k3 AD. In each domain, there is installed a xchange 2003 server into the same xchange org.
When I send an email from the internet to a user in the subdomain, then I receive a log back like this: agent: mail dequeuer orig_from: <aaa.bbb@sourcedomain.com> to: <ccc@targetdomain.com> reason: <mail from: <aaa.bbb@sourcedomain.com>> failed: 454 5.7.3 Client does not have permission to submit mail to this server.
Telnet to this server works over port 25. what could be the mistake or reasen ??
there is a fw between root and child. from root to child, it's all open. from child to root, it's restricted. which ports do I have to open in both directions?

I am having a similar problem. Can you elaborate on your solution. Which ports did you open and where did you configure the DNS Forwarder, server or firewall?

I am having the same problem, but It is on my main domain and not child domain.
I read a Microsoft Article (Article ID : 818778) that sez to change the way relay permissions are set under the SMTP virtual server.
I followed the directions in the article but it still does not work. I even went as far as enabling POP3. It is a native 2K3 AD domain using Exchange 2K3 Sp1. I use a firewall to but I am pretty sure the ports are open that I need.
