whoerner -> OWA 2003 and ISA (26.Aug.2003 3:00:00 AM)

I have read and tried the articles here about publishing OWA 2003 securely. After completing all the steps, I lost all e-mail send/receive abilities from exchange. I was using the IMS on Exchange 5.5 for smtp e-mail send/receive, but after this problem, setup the smtp connector on exchange 2003 and removed the one on 5.5. On the isa server I removed the changes done with the owa 2003 articles, and setup new server publishing rules for the exchange 2003 server, then e-mail working again. I am wondering if I can securely publish owa 2003, continue to send/receive e-mail, publish web sites on alternate port, and all with single ip address? Or would this work better having two isa servers with 2 ips, and securely publish owa 2003 on one isa server, and the rest on the other isa server?

Thank you,

Wynn

Wynn,

Another option would be to multi-home the external interface of ISA. I have seen that work as well.

Hi Wynn,

OWA publishing rules would have NO effect on SMTP access. OWA uses 80 and 443, SMTP uses 25 [Big Grin]

There is some issue other than OWA publishing cause an SMTP problem.

HTH,
Tom
