stoffer -> win2k/XP machines cannot access OWA - 98 ones can (29.Aug.2003 2:03:00 AM)

Greetings,

I have an issue that Win2k or XP clients cannot access OWA on the LAN - they can via the internet from outside. However, windows 98 machines can access OWA locally.

When I connect with a win xp machine I get the username / password box appear.

*The machine is on the domain.
* i have tried domain\username and username@address.com etc

The weirdest bit, is that if I use Terminal Services to a win2k server.. I can use OWA there.

Any idea anyone?

Cheers

Hello Stoffer,

Try to enable Basic Authentification plus specify domain in the default domain field under Default Website in IIS Manager, but be aware when using Basic username and passwords are sent in clear text, so if you don't use SSL it's quite a security risk.

You do this by choosing Properties for the Default Website -> Directory Security -> Edit...

Regards
