I have a new Exchange 2003 server that does not serve the OWA pages correctly. It seems like I can authenticate to the server OK, but when the OWA page is displayed, all of the images are missing (red X) and all of the links point to the same location. I have created new users to test with, as well as deleted original users and re-created them with the same problem every time. I can't find any documentation for this type of problem. Anyone have an idea what could be broken or misconfigured?

Thanks,

Christian

Did you after the new installation change any OWA settings via the IIS or System Manager?

When installing Exchange OWA works out of the box, and you can really screw it up until after the installation.

BTW are you testing from and external client (from the Internet) or does this also happen internally?

I have tested OWA from the internet and from internally with the same results. I didn't change any settings in IIS. I did follow one of Microsofts KB articles on permission settings to validate that the authentication settings were correct. The settings were correct per the KB article.

One strange thing though. In IIS Manager the config shows two default websites. One that has the document roots for Exadmin, Exchange, Exchweb, and Public. The second "Default Web Site" has settings for OWAAdmin, but no apparent default pages. I did try stopping the second Default web site to see if it made any difference, but it didn't make a difference.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Christian

Yuo might want to try running a reinstall of Exchange, don't worry you won't loose any mail data etc.

Is there any risk in running the re-install? Any particular recommendations before I take this on?

Thanks,

Christian

Note: The Iuser_(servername) account was disabled recently and I saw the same page loading issues from inside and outside my LAN. Enable this user account, then restart IIS and I was in business. Thanks, once again, to the wealth of knowledge on this site!

We had the exact same issue - I deleted and recreated the exchweb virtual directory, and hey presto! All fixed. [Smile]

I solved this problem by giving the IUSR_(servername) account read rights in exchweb and children. Which makes much sense when you think about it.
