zac -> Recovering mailbox (16.Nov.2005 6:19:20 PM)

Hi

I am trying to recover a mailbox that was deleted 2 months ago from with A/D.  I Have exchange 2003 with service pack 2 and a recovery storage group configured with the correct and only exchange database.  I Restored the database from backup tape to the recovery store, mounted the recovery store but am unable to restore this mailbox.  I believe there are restrictions with users who have been deleted and cannot be directly recovered using a recovery storage group. The error message i get is "The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed. The MAPI provider failed. Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store ID no: 8004011d-0512-00000000".

What would be the best solution from here with the issues I have.

Thanks
zac

You may find this article helpful, though it aimed at EX2k3 sp 1.

Need a lot more information here.

Exactly *when* are you getting this error?  In System Manager or Exmerge or what?

What is your deleted mailbox retention policy?  Had the original mailbox been purged from the store?  (If so, you'll probably have to do an alternate forest recovery, as Exmerge and the Mailbox Recovery in the SM will only work with restored boxes that already have matching legacyDSN within the store already.)
