Hi all,

i have just got copy of the above and would like to use it on my server which runs under XP professional, I tried to install it and received a message saying no windows NT domain could be found, any idea please.

Well for one thing XP is not a server OS.
And for another thing Exchange 4.0 is over 10 years old so the only server based OS it would install on would be Windows NT 4.0.
Also if you plan on using this to learn Exchange, it will not help you much at all. Exchange has drastically changed since those days.
