woa so wait...it works?!?!?!?! wow i'm so suprised now that i changed it to port 80 that it works, i think iu'll only make a new virtual directory if the website itself does not work. by the way...does it? it didn't in the past so i assumed that they blocked it but maybe by fluke its ok on port 80? thanks again!

Yes, but you now have to type https:// to get to your main Web site, too. http:// alone returns nothing.

If you only have one port available, then you will need the second Virtual Server, with a host header.

I wouldn't delete the original one, just don't use it. Go into ESM (not IIS Manager), and create another Exchange Virtual Server (not Virtual Directory) for your email domain. Because it's a Virtual Server, you have to distinguish it by either using a different port nnumber, or a host header. You don't (by the sound of things) have another incoming port available, so you will have to use a host header name (for which you will need to create a DNS entry). After it's created, go into IIS Manager, and tell it to use 2455 for SSL.

ok what i did was i made a new DNS entry for owa.fleischerdesign.com first and set it to use the same port as the web site on port 80 (default) i then went to ESM ad created the new virtual server and made the host header the same and went to iis and made sure the ports matched up port 80 for tcp and 443 for SSL. i've tried to browse it but as you may already know for whatever reason i cannot check if it in fact works so i'm hoping that it does!!!! thanks so much for all your patience!

I can't seem to get to the Default Web Site. OWA seems to respond, though.

I think we need to establish if your ISP allows port 80 into your router, or not. I'm not sure why you had it set to 2455 on the inside. Have your removed that, so that the DWS is now on port 80 and 443?

port 80 as far as i know is not being blocked by my isp because earlier we set it to port 80 and you said you could reach it so that should be fine. i think i'm going to make the new virtual server onto a different port other than port 80 because maybe theres a problem with them sharing ports or something and we'll try it out

There should be no problem sharing ports - that is what host headers are for. It doesn't look like they block 443 either, otherwise https access wouldn't work, either. So, in theory, you should be able to leave your DWS at port 80 for TCP and 443 for SSL, and just require the SSL cert on the Exchange VDir. It should all work without having to add a virtual server.

I can't reach the DWS from here. Have you told your router to allow port 80 in to port 80 on the server?

ok this is to update you. I figured out that my isp DOES block port 80...they must because it obviously doesn't work on port 80 but works fine on 2455. I set my website on port 2455 with ssl of 443, tested it with a friend and it works. I then created the owa.fleischerdesign.com at port 2456 with ssl 995 and that didn't work for some reason, its just not loading, but i think its because in the virtual directory...nothing exists like in exchange manager if you look at the original virtual server, it has like 5 directories pointing to backofficestorage and whatnot mean while mine has nothing of the sort and i can't find backoffice! lol. yea so i think htats the problem now, i tried to put it on the same port as my website but its not letting me because it can't share the port and thats fine because i don't need it to drag down the website as well even though its ugly as hell. any ideas how to fill up that mean ol'virtual server directory with the right goods for it to work?

This explains how to create the Exchange VDirs for a Default WebSite. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883380 \\.\BackOfficeStorage\ is a kind of Virtual Share created by the Exchange Installable File System. Or something like that.
