Hi, We are facing one problem in exchage system. I have one public domain where i recived all my mails from internet and that mails are forwarded to sub domains. Public domain name is @domain.com and the sub domain names are @in.domain.com and @uk.domain.com Default recipient policy set up email address to user@domain.com I want to setup contacts for users on UK sub domain that do not have exchange accounts in the the active directory As i add contact for a user and send mail to that add, that mail is bounce back with following event. Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeTransport Event Category: NDR Event ID: 3020 Date: 3/28/2006 Time: 11:52:00 AM User: N/A Computer: Server Description: Cause: A forward loop was detected by the categorizer. This is a common hosting configuration problem caused when someone uses the provisioning tool to create a contact in one organization unit and creates a user in a different organization user that share the same e-mail address. Solution: Verify that you do not have a user in organizational unit and a contact in a different organizational unit that have the same e-mail address. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Data: 0000: 80040546 Can any one help me to resolve this problem.

Do you have any mail going to these other 'sub domains'? You must have DNS set up for these sub domains?

Thanks robbuckingham for your reply. My all mails are going as per my public domain name. Means if i send mail to user A, who is sitting at UK office it will go as a@domain.com not as a@uk.domain.com. All my unresolved mails are forwarded to a mail server, which then forward that mails to destination server. So its not necessory for me to configure my DNS for my sub domain. Pls Reply

Is there a recpipent policy in the name of in.domain.com and uk.domain.com? If yes then we need to get rid of it... XGURU

Thanks Xguru for reply.. My recipient policy consist of domain.com and in.domain.com, uk.domain.com is not their. All our mail communication is done through @domain.com not with sub domain name. How recipient policy will affect contacts? can u pls explain the second line in details?

When we have a recipient policy (set as Auth) to accept emails for the said domain, exchange will consider and try to deliver emails for that domain locally. This forces exchange to search the AD and then NDR the message when it does not find the user. If the contact has the said email address which matches one policy in the recipient policy the message is supposed to go out (as target address on contact has to be external to exchange) hence a forward loop is detected and message NDR's. This theory may be wrong since i am not 100% sure of your Env... XGURU

I accept u r concept, but i also configured a forwarder to deliver unresolved mails. Now if i send mail to uk user without adding his contact in AD,it will successfully delivered. As soon as i add contacts for uk user, mail bounce back with missconfiguration error. I m wondering why the mails for user who has contacts, r not going through my forwarder?
