Hi!

I've been looking on these forums for a few days but this is my first post.  I recently did a clean installl of exchange server 2003 onto a clean install of Windows Server 2003.

I've tried setting it up and have got outlook web access working but i'm not having any luck setting it up with full outlook, also the domains dont seem to be set up propperly, i just called the server domain LQ so my user is LQ\james.

When i want to get onto the outlook web access i just go http:(my servers ip address)/exchange to log in, but when i put that address into actual outlook itself nothing happens.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

James

What is the servername you are using? Make sure it is the FQDN of the server.
Does check name work? What happens when you use the global catalog server's name instead of the exchange server name when creating a profile.

Hi,

The name check didnt work, a conection error appears in outlook, i have tried it in and out of http mode.  The name of the server is 'LINQ' and the domain is 'LQ', and to access it i just use its ip address.

Thanks,

James

Are you trying this internally on your network or are you talking about RPC over HTTP? Did you try entering the global catalog servers name when creating the profile instead of the exchange server?

Hey,

Ive been trying to access the exchange server over the internet from another location, im not entirely sure what a catalog server is, ive been looking on the active directory for about a week now trying to figure it out and its still a bit confusing.

Thanks,

James

OK!! now things are getting clearer

have you configured your server to support RPC over HTTP connection?

Hi,

I went through and installed RPC accoridng to the microsoft site, still no joy.

Outlook displays this message whenever trying to connect to the exchange server...

The connection to Microsoft Exchange Serer is unavaliable.  Outlook must be online to complete this action.

Any ideas wat that might mean?!

Thanks,

James

How many exchange servers do you have running Exch 2003? How many global catalog servers do you have running windows 2003? Where did you obtain the certificate from? what is the ISSUED TO name on the certificate (this name must match the URL users connect to OWA)?
