I've been asked to add a third node to an exisitng Exchange 2003 active-passive cluster. Is this possible? I've Googled for some help on this but so far haven't found a definitive anwer although I've seen lots of aticles on replacing a node. Any pointers would be greatfully received, thank you.

Thanks, I've seen them but they don't really answer the question: is adding a node to a cluster that's already up and running just the same as adding a node when you do the initial install?

Yes it is - assuming that the server is going to remain as Active / Passive.
If however you are adding in the 3rd node with a view to make the cluster Active / Active I would be very wary and take the time to review the Exchange clustering guide in terms of Active / Active clustering.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "If however you are adding in the 3rd node with a view to make the cluster Active / Active". This will be a three node cluster so it will be active-active-passive, the new node will be an active node. Is this OK do you think? Thanks
