PatrickHoban -> Event ID 3033 When Using ActiveSync (7.Apr.2006 12:07:05 AM)

Let me start by saying my Cingular 8125 syncs with Exchange just fine. However occasionally I get an error on the device & have to disconnect & reconnect it to the data network. Having said that, on my Exchange Server I keep getting an error once every hour that says, "
The average of the most recent [200] heartbeat intervals used by clients is less than or equal to [540]. Make sure that your firewall configuration is set to work correctly with Exchange ActiveSync and direct push technology. Specifically, make sure that your firewall is configured so that requests to Exchange ActiveSync do not expire before they have the opportunity to be processed. For more information about how to configure firewall settings when using Exchange ActiveSync, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 905013."

I have configured the timeout per the article but still get this error. Anyone else using the Push feature & run into this?

An you adjusted the time-out value on the HTTPS rule on your firewall server right?

Correct. I use ISA and have configured an SSL web listener. On the listener's Preferences tab->Advanced->Connection timeout=1800.

I believe I may have fixed my problem. I restarted the IIS Admin service (& all dependencies) & haven't seen the error as of yet.

Still getting the warning. Is there a registry setting to tweak on the device?

Resurrection of thread...begin.

I have a user who just got an 8125 as well and this error is getting logged on my Exchange box. I have all kinds of other ActiveSync users. Treos, Palms, PPC6700, etc, etc...and never had this error.

My HTTPs timeout is 30 mins or something...definitely more than what's in the knowledgebase. I have done some searching and found that the phone that is usually mentioned with this problem is the 8125!

Can't find a solution yet...anyone figure this out?

Glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem.

Well, make that three..

I've got a slou of Treo's working with our Exchange system and once we got the Cingular 8125, here come the Event ID 3033's..

Anyone found a solution yet?  I don't have an ISA, got a PIX 515 firewall which has the connection timeout set to 30 minutes.

What's an admin to do?! [8|]

Looks like the MSFP download for the Sprint PPC6700 is kicking off this error now.

Last couple of days, the errors have only been logged from 5pm to 11pm...weird.

Any solutions out there yet?  Can't stand to see so many errors in the event logs!!

We have the same problem. Min + Max hearbeats are at defaults. (59mins being the hardcoded max). We have configured ISA and Checkpoint with 3720 (62mins) as the timeout for all TCP connections.

Have check IIS logs on FE & BE servers, and can successfully locate the following entries:
POST Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync?User=administrator&DeviceId=6F24CAD599A5BF1A690246B8C68FAE8D&DeviceType=PocketPC&Cmd=Ping
and
PUT /exchange/Administrator@1b1domain.lab/NON_IPM_SUBTREE/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/PocketPC/6F24CAD599A5BF1A690246B8C68FAE8D/AutdState.xml
and
SUBSCRIBE /exchange/Administrator@1b1domain.lab/Inbox/

What can be the problem?
I am tearing my hair out with this and running out of hair!

TIA

Hello all,

I'm having the same problems.

Using Exchange 2003 SP2 with all patches + ISA 2004 SP2 with all patches in combination with a Qtek 9100 with mobile 5 and direct push. i've increased the timeouts, but without result.

in exchange event viewer i get the error:

The average of the most recent [200] heartbeat intervals used by clients is less than or equal to [540]. etc, etc.

On the mobile I notice that the synchronisation fails to correctly synchronise which mail are read and which not. for example on the mobile they have 0 unread mails, while in outlook there are 10. of course we made an even start, when we configured the device.

I been having the problems for some months now and still haven't found a sollution. I hope someone can help us

regards,

William
