diditagain -> corrupt pst files (8.Apr.2006 3:55:21 AM)

In my infinite wisdom, in trying to free up some diskspace (pre-Eseutil), I created an archive on another drive.  Then, when in Outlook I decided to add some last minute emails to the archive. I did a select, "move to folder" for the files and moved them from the Outlook Today pst folder to the archive file pst folder.  Now, I get corrupt file errors and cannot open the archive file.  I did the Inbox Toolkit repair, and it did not work (although the toolkit said the repair was complete). In the toolkit log I get a "the end-point is smaller than the actual file length (paraphrased)"  What I gather is that by adding additional messages to the archive pst folder, I have somehow screwed up my EOF pointer?  How do you fix this??  I have done this to 8 computers, since when I was doing it it worked fine.  Only when I went out of Outlook then back in did the corrupt messages come in.  HHHHHHHHHHHelp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My you know what is grass....[&o]

Hi, I'm assuming you're using something like Outlook 2000 or Outlook XP? If so there's a 2GB limit on the size of archive files. If they exceed this limit they become corrupt.

Google for a tool called PST2GB which is a Microsoft utility for just such an eventuality. The bad news is that you are likely to lose at least some information from the archives after this process.
