ADC Question - 3.May2006 6:54:09 PM

Hi All, I'm new here... I'm hoping someone can help me out with this:

Here's our situation.  We're performing a 5.5 to 2003 migration.  We
installed ADC about a year ago to import some custom recipients into
our 5.5 org being sent to us from another organization.  We also ran
the setup wizard that tied our 5.5 recipients to their AD accounts in
anticipation of eventually migrating to 2003, which we are now doing.

When we orginally installed ADC, we had a NT 4 domain with about 500
users that still hadn't been upgraded.  The ADC created 500 disabled
users in AD and tied those with the Exchange mailboxes.

Since then, we've done an in-place upgrade of that domain into our AD
forest.  I've created new connection agreements for that domain.
However, the 5.5 mailboxes are still 'linked' to the disabled users
rather than the actual AD account.  Is there a way to 're-assign' those
mailboxes to the correct accounts?

Many thanks...

I think you will have to:
a) Delete the ADC connection that created the disabled accounts.
b) Set the mailbox recovery to 7 days or more (wait for this to take affect)
c) Delete all the disabled mailbox accounts (this will mark the mailboxes as 'deleted'  but still accessible')
d) Load Exchange Manager, open the Mailboxes to find the mailboxes marked for Deleted and use the Connect' feature to connect the mailbox to an existing AD account.
e) Repet for all 500 mailboxes.

Alternatively
a) Add the disabled accounts to appropiate groups and set appropiate properties
b) Delete the AD account (one w/o the mailbox).
c) Enable and rename the disabled account which has the connected mailbox.
d) Get users to login with the new account.
